　　 画外音：exotic 异域风情的，提到这个词，不得不说说“洋人街”，参考了很多所谓的网上的翻译，把重庆的洋人街直译为“Foreigners’ Street”,真可谓贻笑大方。
　　a.“洋人街”真的是指有很多的“foreigners”，外国人吗?
　　b.“洋人街”的“街”真的是一条街吗？
　　 本人愚见，我一直用Exotic Town 来介绍重庆的“洋人街”给外国人，别人也很接受这个说法。不知其他同仁有更好的翻译不？(Exotic Town异域风情镇)。

　　3.snitch 告密，告密者。(俗语“打小报告”，小学最痛恨这类人)

　　z.B: sleep off a headache用睡眠治好头痛（一般很少人会这样吧）sleep off a hangover 睡一觉治疗宿醉 (前一天喝酒喝多了，倒床就睡，第二天就好...)

　　11.improvise 临场发挥（口语书面都可以用）= wing (俚语，口语化，也是临场发挥)
　　z.B: I haven’t prepared for anything about the exam, I guess I have to improvise/wing it. 我完全没有准备这次考试，我只有靠临场发挥了。
　　
　　12.confess (俗话说：坦白从宽，抗拒从严) 就是坦白的意思。也可和admit同等用。
　　z.B: I confess /admit that I got some weakness, cause nobody’s perfect. 我承认我也有缺点，因为人无完人。
　　confession 名词化, confess还有一个简单的说法 – fess ( 曾今只听过fess out 这种用法)
　　
　　13. take a break 休息一下，口语用法。如果要强调休息做什么事，可以添加成分如：喝杯咖啡休息一下take a coffee break 散步休息一下 take a walk break
　　break 还有其他很多含义。比如：逃跑 Prison Break 越狱（不说了），中断，介入commercials break 插播广告（此生最痛恨事情之一）
　　z.B: I hate as hell those TV programs with commericials break. 我恨透了那些竟是插播广告的电视节目。（深有感触，没办法，谁叫那些TV台被垄断了，充斥着低俗的广告, 其实他们就一个目的：没广告可以，看pay-per-view）

　　a. （家庭）管教很严 b. 过分保护；溺爱，纵容 (感觉两个意思相对？看情况使用)
　　
　　9. clear and sober 头脑清醒 （英语中2个词意思相近，且结尾发音相近，可连用，加强语气）
　　z.B: muggy and stuffy 天气闷热难耐 ever and forever 永远 （其他自己总结）
　　
　　10. depot 美语-汽车站（bus station），航站(airport station)，火车站 (railroad station)。（一般为细化到底是什么站，会这样说汽车站bus depot, 火车站railroad depot, 航站 airport depot）
　　
　　11. group shot 集体照 (从小学到大学都有这个经历吧！)
　　 还有个词组 take a shot 照相。z.B: Let’s take a group shot. 大家来照张集体照。(shot 还有其他意思，如：机会chance，尝试try，喝酒drink，奇迹的是都可以用take a shot来表示，具体含义看语境了)
　　
　　12.cop = police（俚语）条子 = 警察 （碰到警察police可千万别喊条子cop哦！）

　　14. ditch 甩掉某人，（ditch是可指单纯的甩掉某人，比如谁谁谁跟踪，或和甩开不想搭理的人，恋爱中甩掉某人用也可以用ditch或者用dump，很好记，反正 2个都是D开头），ditch还有个常用的意思，就是大学生必修课-翘课ditch class

　　1.side effect 副作用 （任何药都有side effect）cold drugs感冒药的side effect就是sleeping嗜睡。Malaria medicine疟疾药的side effect堪称之最，本人已经经历了2次了，深有感触。疟疾的副作用是sleeping嗜睡，light-headed头晕，inappetence食欲不振，weak乏力，diarrhea 腹泻，vomitting 呕吐，cold and hot 忽冷忽热。防不胜防，以后得多加小心了。Damnit，mosquitos! 该死的蚊子。
　　
　　2.be not in the mood 没心情，没心情做...I am not in the mood for getting my work done./I am not in the mood to get my work done.我没心情干完工作。
　　
　　3.blackout a.（突然）断电，停电 b. 昏过去。
　　
　　4.shrink （俚语）心理医生 = psychiatrist 精神病医生。
　　
　　5.paranoid delusions 精神分裂症 （听起来还真有点可怕）

　　8. desperate 绝望的，严重的。Desperate Housewife绝望主妇，be in desperate illness 患绝症。Be in a desperate situation 形势严重。
　　
　　9.car crash 车祸 （当然也可以用car accident,但是crash更广泛，更常用），air crash 飞机坠毁，company crash 公司倒闭。 crash （俚语）留宿，过夜 = stay overnight 过夜。z.B: My pal gave a crash on his sofa. 我朋友允许我在他家沙发上睡一夜。
　　
　　10.count on...指望(某人) z.B: You can always count on my help.你可以依赖我的帮助。
　　
　　11.brand new 崭新，全新。brand new car 新车，brand new Tv set 新电视，brand new life 新生活。
　　
　　12. work （out） 起作用，有效（多指药物）。The medicine is working （out），I am feeling about going to sleep. 药效来了，感觉想要睡觉。
　　
　　13.wear off 失去药效，药效减轻 z.B: The pills wear off. 药效逐渐消失。
　　
　　14.meds =medicines 药（缩写）= pills, drugs. 延伸 – drug store 药店 pharmacy 药店。drug 有时候也指 “毒品”。

　　1.pep rally 赛前动员会（相当于是加油，鼓励，振奋动员会之类的，又有点拉选票的意思vote） pep...up 鼓励某人 z.B His words pepped me up. 他的话使我备受鼓舞。
　　
　　2.outfit 衣服， 外套
　　
　　3.pay 工资，薪水 – underpay 少付工资
　　
　　4.punch 打，拳击 – 延生词组 punch in = clock in打卡上班， punch out = clock out打卡下班
　　
　　5.mess up 搞糟，陷入困境。z.B: Hey, look at you, you got the room totally messed up. 嘿，瞧你干的好事，房间弄得乱糟糟的。（当然，mess up也可用于搞糟事情 = screw up）be in a mess 乱七八糟。The room is such in a mess.
　　
　　6.wait around 空等，傻傻的等
　　z.B: Maybe she won’t come, I can’t just wait around. 或许她不会来了，我不能这样一直等下去。
　　
　　7. park （这里可不指“公园”）停车，No parking! 禁止停车，如果有no parking字样，就不能停在那里，否则就会有开parking ticket乱停车罚单，必须在parking lot停车场去，还要看有不有parking space停车位。
　　
　　8. get stuck / be stuck 卡住了。如果下车碰巧不小心被可恶的公交车门夹住了get stuck，真够倒霉的。Stuck也指被粘住的。z.B: My hands get stuck on the paper.我的手被纸粘住了。Stuck还可以指遇到困难。z.B: When you get stuck about your life, you are always welcome to come to me. 如果你在生活中遇到困难，可以随时来找我。Be in stuck 陷入困境，be out of stuck 摆脱困境 = get rid of stuck = get out of stuck.
　　
　　9.SUV 越野车 Sports Utility Vehicle即“运动型多用途车”。 Pickup (Trunk) 国外的皮卡车，在国内比较少见。 RV 休闲车 Recreation Vehicle 除轿车，跑车以外的车都可以指RV，SUV也算RV类型。MPV – 多用途车 Multi-Purpose Vehicle，可以视为多功能商务车型。
　　
　　10. pretend to be... 假装 （本人喜欢把它理解为“装B”）pretend not to hear and say 装聋作哑
　　
　　11.jig 诡计，花招，阴谋，把戏。= trick.
　　
　　12.take advantage of ... （这个词组在大学经常滥用，利用这个优势blah,blah,blah...这也没错，但是在国外，我听到这个词组很少，一般都用在不好的方面，比如，谁谁take advantage of your kindness 利用你的善良欺骗之类的。）
　　
　　13.blow the whistle （俚语）揭发，告发。z.B: Those people cannot endure anymore and blow the whistle on official corruption. 人们忍无可忍，最后还是揭发了政府官员的腐败。
　　
　　14.take it seriously 认真的看待某件事。Aren’t you taking it seriously? 你不会当真吧！
